People suffering from debilitating conditions such as cancer and multiple sclerosis will have expanded access to medical marijuana after Amendment 2 was approved by Florida voters on Tuesday.
The amendment, which allows the use of medical marijuana prescribed by a doctor, comes after a similar question was defeated in 2014.
The new amendment contained more specifics about who would qualify for medical marijuana.
With it’s passage, amendment 2 will also permit caregivers to assist patients with marijuana treatments, as long as the caregivers undergo background checks and do not use marijuana themselves.
