Jimbo Fisher Resigns & Is Leaving Florida State

TALLAHASSEE — Jimbo Fisher is leaving Florida State to accept the head coaching job at Texas A&M.

Rumors regarding Texas A&M’s vast interest in Fisher circulated for several weeks, although a recent report from the Houston Chronicle stated the Fisher was on A&M’s radar since the start of the season, and it became increasingly clear by the end of November that Fisher was the Aggies’ top and only target. Consequently, Texas A&M made an aggressive offer to Fisher by Sunday and the coach accepted the ultimate deal.

Fisher will not coach Saturday’s regular-season finale on Saturday. The coach began cleaning out his office on Friday afternoon, according to sources, after a 15-minute meeting at the Westcott Building — which is where office of school president John Thrasher resides.

Players, Noles247 was told, were not informed directly by Fisher of his decision.

Exact terms of the contract Fisher accepted are not known, although Noles247 has heard from various sources that Fisher will stand to make at least $7 million annually and will receive substantial financial support to fill out a coaching staff.
