Lake Wales, Floria – A Lake Wales man was arrested on Thursday evening after allegedly assaulting women in the RaceTrac parking lot.

Lake Wales Police Officers responded to a report of a battery taking place at the Racetrac located on S.R. 60. Upon arrival they spoke with D’Andra Lewis, Ariana Gipson, and Kierra Staton. The women advised the officers that Jon Douglas Cole, DOB 09/03/79, had approached them as they were getting fuel. Cole allegedly entered the vehicle without permission and tried to get them to drive him home. Cole was told to get out of the vehicle and was told they would not drive him home. At that point, Cole began to hit Lewis and pull on her clothing. Lewis was able to push Cole away from her by using her feet. Gipson removed the baby from the car seat and she, Lewis, and Staton ran into the gas station for safety and to get help.

Lake Wales Police Officers located Cole still in the parking lot and placed him under arrest. Upon search of his person, they located a socket with copper mesh material. The socket field tested positive for cocaine. Cole was also found to be in possession of a burnt cigar which contained a green leafy substance which field tested positive for marijuana. Cole was later transported to Polk County Jail without further incident.

This is not the first time that Cole has been arrested. He has over 14 arrests in Polk County in the last 15 years.
