Shepherd Road Rail Crossing Closing for Five Days
Bartow, Fla. (November 30, 2017) — After the morning rush hour on Monday, CSX Transportation will close its Shepherd Road rail crossing just west of the intersection with South Florida Avenue (State Road 37) in South Lakeland. Crossing will be closed to vehicular traffic for five days as crews upgrade aging and damaged rail sections for a smoother ride. Dependent on destination and direction of travel, traffic will be detoured along Old Hwy. 37, Ewell Road and South Florida Avenue. Congestion and commuting delays are expected, particularly during peak morning and evening travel hours.
